This review reflects our personal impressions and what we saw/experienced. Overall: Not “rustic” but neglected in our view; poor value for money. We left 4 days early and would not book again. Photos available. Arrival & communication: Directions were unclear at first; after we asked, the owner sent helpful instructions. Before paying we asked by email if the terrace was repaired and were told it was—yet the wooden deck still had several holes and felt very worn. We travelled with a small dog. Exterior: Many areas looked weathered/uncared‑for. The gutter was still crooked. Pond and features were run‑down: a trampoline in bad shape; a “boat/ship” with moss, open door, bottles inside, rain coming in; a small boat beside the pond filled with water/leaves. The pond itself was hard to access and not inviting. No porch roof and no doormat meant rainwater was easily tracked inside. Regular farm/tractor noise—no consistent quiet. Outdoor shower: Far from the house; thistles present; one tile was loose. Fixed shower head mounted very high and not adjustable; in wind the spray missed. Hot water took a while and it took trial‑and‑error to figure out which valve was hot/cold. Interior & seating: It rained 2–3 days, so we stayed indoors a lot; for that, the furnishings felt unsuitable: hard chairs and a modular rattan sofa with thin cushions—fine outdoors perhaps, but uncomfortable for lying down. Fireplace & wood: Several boxes of scrap wood (some treated, some with nails, some damp). We wouldn’t burn such wood to our knowledge; the “good” wood we found in a shed behind the boat, past the trampoline. The open fireplace drew a lot of smoke into the house; with more wood we felt dizziness from the smoke, so we used very little and ventilated frequently. Sleeping area: Mattress very uncomfortable. A decorative branch protrudes above the head area (bump hazard in our view). The lamp above the bed and the lamp under the stairs (next to the fridge) didn’t work (despite a bulb in the bed lamp). Stairs to the bed are very steep; the light switch sits mid‑stairs. Basement/tech: Listing mentions a projector, so we brought adapters; we found an older device in the basement. Basement looked uncared‑for: lots of leaves (a window was/kept open), a dead mouse, an old bed with a dirty mattress, many cobwebs (including near a couch). Parts of the floor had about 1 cm of water; the cabinet with a water fitting stood in the water; electrical cables were nearby—not ideal. One support post had many small holes (possible insects). Kitchen & plumbing: The upper sink drains through an opening with very little water in it (as others noted)—we don’t understand the design. The lower sink was fine at first, then turned very slow after a few days. The dishwasher worked once, then stopped, so we washed by hand—which was extra frustrating with the slow/overflowing sinks. We don’t know if the house connects to a sewer or a tank; if a tank, maybe it was full (just a guess). Whirlpool/Jacuzzi (booked separately): For us, wasted money. On arrival there was little firewood; water was turbid/dirty, bottom not visible. Once it was completely empty; after we messaged the owner, it was refilled the next day but not cleaned. We saw insects, feathers, and something that looked like droppings in the water. Heating took at least ~90 minutes and only reached lukewarm. There is a small extra hot tub on site, but no instructions on whether/how to use it. Conclusion: Many maintenance/cleaning issues matched older reviews we had seen. For quiet seekers, guests with a dog, and rainy periods, we currently cannot recommend it.
